The short version

San Diego’s elite
personal trainer

At 62 years old, I have been in the fitness industry as a personal trainer for over 30 years. Love helping people and love living the lifestyle. My involvement began when I was younger and wanted to become a better wrestler and football player. Since then I have competed in several bodybuilding contests, with my most notable title being the Collegiate Mr. Illinois.

I have also become a familiar face in the fitness industry not only as a personal trainer but as a fitness model. I have appeared on the cover of magazines such as Muscle & Fitness, Physical and Planet Muscle.

In addition, I was a police officer for 10 years in the Chicago Metro area and was the fitness instructor for the police department, where I trained officers to pass their quarterly fitness exams as well as the testing for new recruits.

Why I understand

The part most trainers
won’t tell you

What most people don’t realize is that the excessive lifestyle I had — dieting from one extreme to another — caused me to develop an eating disorder. I became a severe binge eater and struggle with it to this day. I completely understand the power food holds over us, and I have developed a way to keep it in check.

There were times I would eat a dozen “Dove bars” in one sitting. I would also have problems at all-you-can-eat buffet style restaurants. Las Vegas was the worst for me. I would go in to eat one meal and on several occasions stayed for several hours eating until I got sick. I would walk out feeling completely defeated and depressed. I would then go into the gym at the hotel and do cardio for hours at a time to work off what I just ate. It was a vicious cycle I knew could kill me one day.

So trust me when I say, “I understand.”

Mission

Motivate.
Educate.
Evaluate.

I created Fearless Fitness with overall health and wellness in mind. As trainers we need to understand both the male and female perspective on fitness goals as well as health and wellness.

True change begins in the mind. By shifting focus from physical appearance to overall health and longevity, you get results that last. Change your mindset and your body will follow.

No two people are alike, which is why every program is built to the individual. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced athlete, the job is to motivate, educate and evaluate at every step — and to get you there pain-free, using corrective exercise and myo-fascial trigger point work rather than pushing you through injury.

Magazine covers

One of my life long goals when I began working out was to get on the cover of Muscle & Fitness magazine. In May of 2001, I achieved that and went on to do several other cover photos as well. We should always set goals. If we don’t there is no direction or purpose for what we do and it becomes easy to quit.
